Built from gathered audio and video field recordings from alongside the periphery of a rural highway, route 33 leading from Columbus to Athens, Ohio, recorded from 2013-2015. This 2-channel video with custom audio is a bridge to internal highway architectures.

10-minute two-channel video work called “Egress,” created as part of my MFA Thesis research at Ohio University, has been presented as both wall and floor projections and a two-channel and single channel variation at different venues since 2015.
Combining video, sound, image and text through highly personal, subjective language EGRESS uses exploration of rural highway space as a vehicle to relay shifting psychological states of the human condition. The word “egress” is a means of exit, a way out, a chance for escape. The work doubles as a way in, a means of entrance — a chance for engagement.
